Inktober 2017 Day 16: Short, “Fat,” and Proud of That

A famous and fat bear from the Hundred Acre Wood inspired today’s Inktober submission.  Click the post title to see the drawing!

“Fat.”  For today’s prompt, I knew that I wanted to put a fun spin to what is normally a negative word.  Originally, I thought about drawing fast food like pizza, burger, and fries and the Buy N Large in Wall-E.  It was during my brainstorming session that I remembered a song sung by Winnie the Pooh.

After a quick search on the Internet, I learned that the title of the song is “Up Down and Touch the Ground.”  I also found out that I misremembered the lyrics.  I thought that Winnie sings something along the lines of “round, fat, and proud of that.”  That key word “round” is what led me to think of the Ufufy version of Pooh.

What’s an Ufufy?

Well, an Ufufy (ooo-foo-fee) is an egg-shaped stuffed animal, “born from the clouds.”  According to Disney Examiner, “Disney gave Japan Ufufy because Tsum Tsums got too popular.”  Ufufy toys were exclusive to Japan until very recently where they have been made available in other countries including the United States.

If you have been keeping up with my Inktober posts, you may have noticed that I labeled the section “Preliminary Sketch” as opposed to “Preliminary Sketches.”  That’s because I only sketched out 1 idea on paper and was pleased with how it looked.  It was a nice surprise after the many trial-and-error runs I’ve had the past 15 days.  As you can see from the picture above, I put the Ufufy Winnie the Pooh on top of what he loves most: honey.

Not much changed from the preliminary sketch to the final drawing except for the shape of the honey pot.  I wanted to make the honey pot as symmetrical as possible, so for the final drawing I used a ruler.  Hope you enjoyed today’s Inktober drawing.  Make sure to come back tomorrow for Day 17!

Thanks for reading!
